Abstract

The rapid adoption of microservices architecture has transformed enterprise software development by enabling modular, scalable, and independently deployable services. However, the increasing number of APIs within distributed microservices environments introduces significant challenges related to governance, security, lifecycle management, interoperability, version control, and regulatory compliance. This paper proposes a scalable API governance framework integrating OpenAPI Specification, RAML, cloud-native DevSecOps, Kubernetes orchestration, machine learning-assisted governance, API gateways, automated compliance validation, and enterprise lifecycle management for microservices-based enterprise platforms. The proposed methodology provides centralized API governance while supporting decentralized service development through policy-driven automation, continuous monitoring, intelligent validation, and adaptive lifecycle management. Experimental evaluation demonstrates improvements in governance consistency, deployment reliability, API interoperability, operational scalability, compliance management, and enterprise software quality. The proposed framework provides a production-ready solution for governing largescale API ecosystems within modern cloudnative enterprise environments.
